Hive on the Hollow Field Trips

An outdoor experience to remember…
Who are we:
Hive on the Hollow is a nurturing, educational, outdoor environment where kids truly thrive! Our field trips provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for school aged children to get a hands-on experience with llamas, emus, goats, sheep, miniature donkeys, peacocks, chickens and more! They will not only learn about the animals, but they will be able to enter the pasture to touch the animals and brush them. The kids will also learn about honey bees as well, while getting an opportunity to view actual working bees in action on real honeycomb.
What do we do on field trips:
This field trip will expose students to a variety of animals and honeybees in a structured but playful itinerary. Groups will rotate around the farm experiencing the following:
Each group will have the chance to enter the pasture to meet/pet/brush the animals and learn facts about each animal including how to care for them, what they eat, etc.
Each group will have the opportunity to learn about beekeeping. They will view working honeybees in action through an observation window! They will learn about the lifecycle of the honeybee, see the tools of the beekeeper and learn about the process of making and harvesting honey. The students will sample honey from the hives and take home a small gift from Hive on the Hollow.
Each group will have an opportunity for “play time” to explore the property, take turns on the zip line, and utilize our open field for team based games.
Afterward, you are welcome to picnic and enjoy the property
How long is a field trip:
Our field trips are 1-hour in length for the educational portion, and longer, depending if you stay to picnic on the land. The educational portion of the field trips accommodate up to two classes per hour with up to an additional 2 classes experiencing play time during that time.
Cost of field trip:
$10 per child and chaperones. Accredited teachers by the state of Tennessee are complimentary.
